How did you learn about IAFT and what made you choose IAFT for your film education?

When I arrived in the Philippines, then first thing I did was looking for a good acting school. One day I went to an IAFT open house in Saint Benilde and shortly after, I called to my mom and told her I was going to Cebu and that’s that. I chose IAFT because they showed a variety of impressive films and how its programs that actually allows you to be in front of a camera while working with them.

Why did you decide to pursue filmmaking?

The pursued filming because I always had a love for the arts and I saw filmmaking as an outlet to express all my thoughts. It’s the only thing I can see myself continually pursuing. This country has given me so much and it will always be my home. There are so many stories to tell about this country and I want to be one of the people to let the world know about these amazing untold stories. I want tell these stories as a writer, actor, director, any form possible really!

Film School Cebu - The Mystery and Design of the Art Department

The Mystery and Design of the Art Department
A Production Design Workshop with Emmy award winner Michael David Crenshaw

Saturday, 28th February, 1pm to 5pm at IAFT Cebu

Free admission. Open to all.

In this workshop we will be dissecting the inner workings of a feature film art department and de-mystify the names and positions of a credit list. The workshop will cover sub departments, work flow and how it all comes together.

We will observe examples of art direction from many different media sources and talk about framing and composition. Attendees will then work together in small groups to break down a script for an art department, and analyze the scene from a visual perspective.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a much better grasp of how art direction and design plays into visual arts, commercial and entertainment media.

On January 2015: New Animated Film Based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream

“Strange Magic,” a new animated film from Lucasfilm Ltd., will be released by Touchstone Pictures on January 23, 2015. “Strange Magic” is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic, which created the CGI animation for 2011’s Academy Award®-winning film “Rango,” bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects.
With a story by George Lucas, “Strange Magic” is directed by Gary Rydstrom (“Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,” “Lifted”), produced by Mark S. Miller (associate producer “Mars Attacks!”) and executive produced by George Lucas, with a screenplay by David Berenbaum (“Elf”), Irene Mecchi (“Brave,” “The Lion King”) and Rydstrom. An extraordinary roster of film, television and Broadway stars lend their voices to “Strange Magic,” including Alan Cumming (CBS’ “The Good Wife,” Broadway’s “Cabaret”), Evan Rachel Wood (“The Ides of March”), Kristin Chenoweth (Broadway’s “Wicked”), Maya Rudolph (“Big Hero 6,” “Bridesmaids”), Sam Palladio (ABC’s “Nashville”), newcomer Meredith Anne Bull, Alfred Molina (“Chocolat”), Elijah Kelley (“Hairspray,” “The Butler”), Bob Einstein (HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Peter Stormare (“Fargo”). Well-known music producer Marius de Vries (“Moulin Rouge”) serves as both the musical director and composer." - Source: https://twitter.com/strangemagic
